General information about our Faculty at ICI
The International Cello Institute offers a different type of education for students of the cello. Most summer music camps and programs assign a student to a particular teacher during their time at camp. We offer residencies to our faculty members. A typical stay for a faculty cellist at ICI is three to five days. Therefore, during their time with us, our students get to work with a broad spectrum of cello teachers and artists. This presents a perfect opportunity for students thinking about college and graduate school to meet and work with teachers they might be interested in studying with in the future.
There are performance masterclasses every day, and we have excellent pianists available as accompanists. A student will have two lessons a week with a different teacher, as well as afternoon technique classes and workshops on various subjects of interest. We offer Alexander Technique workshops and orchestral training for the older students, including mock auditions. Every Thursday evening we present a student recital, we believe performance experience is very important in the development of young cellists. A big hit every year is our cello chamber music concert, students are placed in various cello trios, quartets, and duos as well as larger ensembles. Our CELLOici recital series runs alongside the institute, concerts are given in Minneapolis at an Art Museum.
